I awake from the alarm at 4 am, the sunrise is at five but the dawning light outside is grey. It doesn’t matter. I came to Maine for a reason, perhaps today I will see the moose. My quick shower is reminiscent to the drizzle that comes from the clouds as I drive through the woods. It clears slightly on my hike to the lake, camera ready in my hand and my gaze scanning the shores for movement. The clouds drifting over the mountains open up to show a green spectacle. A slight wave of the tall grass, and a small caramel brown head appears above it. Then I see the mother stepping into the lake to feed. I found them.
