Under a palm tree, on a beach, in a far away country; isn't that the place everyone dreams of going?

Strangely, my feeling with this photo isn't one of wanting to travel, but one of wanting to be home.
Lying on my back in the tropical sand I was looking at the rising sun through the leaves of the palm trees, and never did I long more to walk underneath trees dripping from fog on a Dutch autumn morning.

In the last year I have been going back to analog photography.
I felt like I lost my creativity with photography somewhat in the last few years. I hoped going with the more slow analog format would help to see things with a new eye, and ignite some of the passion I always felt with photography.
~
In 2021, I dusted off my almost 20 year old Nikon F55 and bought a Holga and a Rolleicord, I ordered some film, and... put it all on the shelf😄
~
When I came to the US, I took all my cameras with me in the hope I would use them here. And I have. I am slowly starting to see the world with a new eye again, and slowly finding a lot of joy in it again.
~
I decided to submit one of my favourite analog photos that I made so far to an online exhibition and it got selected! The selection of analog photos and analog methods on @analogforeverzine is truly inspiring.
~
I will try and post a few more of the photos that I made in last months, and the ones I'm currently making.
I know Instagram is designed to be a fast medium, but these will be slow photos😊❤️

One year ago I defended my PhD thesis.

As one of the first to defend after the Covid restrictions lifted, I was so grateful that everyone could be there. My family, my friends, and my colleagues. Although the distinction between friends and colleagues was not really clear anymore after spending 8 years almost every day with them; they inevitably all turned into close friends❤️ And they made the best video in the world for me🥰 (plus a highlight video, both on my YouTube linked in my bio)

Honestly, I don't recall much from this day. It all went by in a blur. The period leading up to the defense, and the last year, have been a wild ride. At some point I will perhaps write a bit more about it. Today after a long time, I finally felt that I could enjoy watching the defense again and making this small summary😊
